DIRECTORS

Elisabeth McConnell serves as the Director of Bands for Linda Jobe Middle School and Donna Shepard Leadership Academy and is in her 25th year as a music educator. She teaches the Jobe Honors Band and Beginning Brass classes.
Prior to coming to Mansfield, Mrs. McConnell taught in Plano ISD where she was the Head Band Director at Haggard Middle School and Assistant Band Director at Plano Senior High School, Jasper High School, and Rice Middle School. Bands under her direction have consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes ratings and many of her students have gone on to excel musically in their high school years and beyond. She has also served as a private French Horn Instructor and master class clinician throughout the years in several area school districts.
Mrs. McConnell grew up in Plano, TX and holds a Bachelors of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas College of Music. She performed on the French horn with the highly acclaimed North Texas Wind Symphony, the UNT Symphony Orchestra, and UNT Green Brigade. Mrs. McConnell was fortunate to be a part of several impacting experiences as a young musician, performing with the Haggard MS 3C Texas Honor band in 1991 and with the Plano Senior High School Symphony Orchestra at Midwest in 1993 and Carnegie Hall in 1995. She continues to perform as a musician, most recently with the Mansfield Wind Symphony.
Mrs. McConnell currently resides in Mansfield with her husband Seth, Timpanist in the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and her children Adam, former Clarinet player and Electrician, and Clara, a Senior Trombonist who attends Mansfield HS. They all enjoy lots of laughter and fun together dining out, playing games, watching movies, and enjoying their three dogs Bear, Bow, and Winnie
Mr. Nicholas Thomas

Nick Thomas is entering his fifth year as a music educator and proudly serves in his fourth year as Band Director at Linda Jobe Middle School, located in his hometown of Mansfield, Texas. He began his teaching career as a long-term substitute at Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy, gaining valuable classroom and ensemble experience that helped shape his approach to middle school band instruction.
A graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, Nick earned his Bachelor of Music degree while studying under esteemed mentors Dr. Rick Bogard, Dr. Miranda George, Dr. Douglas Stotter, and Dr. Christopher Evans. His performance credits at UTA span the Wind Symphony, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Orchestra, University Singers Choir, and Trumpet Ensemble, highlighting his versatility and dedication as a musician.
Outside of academia, Nick has performed professionally with Mid Cities Brass, a local brass quintet, and was selected as a member of the 2019 National Intercollegiate Band during college. His musical journey began in Mansfield ISD, where he earned a seat in the 2015 TMEA All-State Philharmonic Orchestra as a high school student.
Nick remains an active member of several professional organizations, including the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), Young Band Directors of Texas (YBDT), Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Service Fraternity, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
He currently lives in Arlington, Texas, and enjoys spending his free time playing Ultimate Frisbee and Disc Golf, exploring new instruments, and experimenting in the kitchen.


Ms. Julia Dunphy

Julia Dunphy is excited to be entering in first year of teaching! Her musical journey began at the young age of four. She played a variety of different instruments growing up such as violin, flute, saxophone, ukulele, and guitar. She also loves to sing!
Julia graduated from Klein High School in Spring, TX. During that time, she was flute section leader and drum major. These early roles ignited her passion for leading and teaching through music. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas where she graduated summa cum laude. She specializes in teaching band and orchestra with her primary instrument being flute and secondary instrument violin.
While at UNT, Ms. Dunphy performed with top ensembles such as the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Green Brigade Marching Band, and Steel Band. She was also active in leadership, serving as President of Mu Phi Epsilon and leading its events committee. To further develop her administrative skills, she interned with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, participating in training camp and traveling throughout the Midwest from June through August.
Her professional affiliations include TMEA, TBA, TODA, and Mu Phi Epsilon.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling and hiking, crocheting, and spending time with her friends and beloved cat, Murphy!
Mr. Reynaldo Miranda
Percussion Director for the Legacy HS Cluster

Reynaldo Miranda is a percussion educator based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Born in Houston and raised in Burton, Reynaldo began his music studies at Blinn College in Brenham, TX. Here he studied percussion under Dr. Sarah Burke and Todd Quinlan. He performed with the drumline, steel band, percussion ensemble, symphonic band, and wind symphony during his time there. Reynaldo then graduated with his Associates of Arts in Music in May of 2021 and transferred to Texas Christian University that same year.

At Texas Christian University, he studied percussion under Dr. Brian West, Joey Carter, and Jeffrey S. Hodge. Here he performed with the drumline, steel bands, percussion orchestras, symphonic band, concert band, wind symphony, and symphony orchestra. During his time here, Rey performed with the symphony orchestra at TMEA 2024 and percussion ensembles at PASIC 2022. Reynaldo then graduated with his Bachelors of Music Education in December of 2024.

Apart from his collegiate studies. Reynaldo also performed with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from 2022-2023 for Drum Corps International (DCI) and Monarch Independent Percussion for Winter Guard International (WGI).

Apart from music, Rey enjoys watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.
