MAVERICK BAND
DIRECTORS
Elisabeth McConnell serves as the Director of Bands for Linda Jobe Middle School and Donna Shepard Leadership Academy and is in her 25th year as a music educator. She leads the Jobe Honors Band and Beginning Brass/Double Reed classes.
Prior to coming to Mansfield, Mrs. McConnell taught in Plano ISD where she was the Head Band Director at Haggard Middle School and Assistant Band Director at Plano Senior High School, Jasper High School, and Rice Middle School. Bands under her direction have consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes ratings, top ratings at music festivals, and many of her students have gone on to excel musically in their high school years and beyond. She has also served as a private French Horn Instructor and master class clinician throughout the years in several area school districts.
Mrs. McConnell grew up in Plano, TX and holds a Bachelors of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas College of Music. She performed on the French horn with the highly acclaimed North Texas Wind Symphony, the UNT Symphony Orchestra, and UNT Green Brigade. Mrs. McConnell was fortunate to be a part of several impacting experiences as a young musician, performing with the Haggard MS 3C Texas Honor band in 1991 and with the Plano Senior High School Symphony Orchestra at Midwest in 1993 and Carnegie Hall in 1995. She continues to perform as a musician, most recently with the Mansfield Wind Symphony. All of these opportunities have helped to shape her goal of providing the same experiences for her students.
Her professional affiliations include the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Music Adjudicators Association, and the Texas Bandmasters Association.
Mrs. McConnell currently resides in Mansfield with her husband Seth, Timpanist in the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, and her children Adam, former Clarinet player and Electrician, and Clara, former Trombonist who is currently studying culinary. They all enjoy lots of laughter and fun together dining out, playing games, watching movies, traveling, and enjoying their three dogs Bear, Bow, and Winnie
Julia Dunphy
Associate Director of Bands

Julia Dunphy is an Associate Director of Bands for Linda Jobe Middle School and Donna Shepard Leadership Academy and is entering her 2nd year of teaching. She leads the Jobe Symphonic Band and Beginning Woodwind classes.
Ms. Dunphy holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Texas where she graduated summa cum laude. She specializes in teaching band and orchestra with her primary instrument being flute. She also has a passion for learning many different instruments since she was young including clarinet, saxophone, violin, ukulele, and guitar.
While at UNT, Ms. Dunphy performed with top ensembles including the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Green Brigade Marching Band, and Steel Band. She was the president of co-ed Music Fraternity, Mu Phi Epsilon, and lead its events committee. She also had the opportunity to intern with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, participating in training camp and traveling throughout the Midwest from June through August.
Ms. Dunphy’s professional affiliations include TMEA, TBA, TODA, and Mu Phi Epsilon.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling and hiking, reading, crocheting, and spending time with her loved ones!
Shaun Williams
Associate Director of Bands

Shaun Williams is an Associate Director of Bands for Linda Jobe Middle School and Donna Shepard Leadership Academy. He is entering his 1st year of teaching and will be the lead of the Concert band and Beginning Brass classes.
Having recently graduated from East Texas A&M University with a Bachelor degree in Music Education, his primary performance instrument is the Trombone. During his studies he was able to perform in Italy at the Rossini Conservatory, in the Percy Granger festival in Chicago, in the Intercollegiate Honor Band for CBDNA, and was a part of Tejas the Texas Jazz All Stars. In addition, he performs with the Mansfield Community Theatre each summer as well as serving as a camp counselor for Camp Olympia.
Mr. Williams is passionate about creating a classroom where every student feels welcomed, challenged, and supported. His goal is to help students grow not only academically but also as confident, respectful, and lifelong learners.
When he is not in the classroom, Mr. Williams enjoys watching football, basketball, fishing, movies, and playing video games. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially when they go bowling. He lives, breathes, and prays for the Dallas Cowboys!
Mr. Williams looks forward to partnering with students and families to make this a successful and memorable school year. He is excited to learn, grow, and celebrate achievements together!
Reynaldo Miranda
Percussion Director for the Legacy HS Cluster

Reynaldo Miranda is a percussion educator based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Born in Houston and raised in Burton, Reynaldo began his music studies at Blinn College in Brenham, TX. Here he studied percussion under Dr. Sarah Burke and Todd Quinlan. He performed with the drumline, steel band, percussion ensemble, symphonic band, and wind symphony during his time there. Reynaldo then graduated with his Associates of Arts in Music in May of 2021 and transferred to Texas Christian University that same year.
At Texas Christian University, he studied percussion under Dr. Brian West, Joey Carter, and Jeffrey S. Hodge. Here he performed with the drumline, steel bands, percussion orchestras, symphonic band, concert band, wind symphony, and symphony orchestra. During his time here, Rey performed with the symphony orchestra at TMEA 2024 and percussion ensembles at PASIC 2022. Reynaldo then graduated with his Bachelors of Music Education in December of 2024.
Apart from his collegiate studies. Reynaldo also performed with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps from 2022-2023 for Drum Corps International (DCI) and Monarch Independent Percussion for Winter Guard International (WGI).
Apart from music, Rey enjoys watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.
